QB Russell Wilson Announces Decision to Sign With Pittsburgh Steelers (Plus More NFL Retirements, Extensions & Trades)

The new NFL league year is almost here, and the roster-churning festivities are in full swing. Last night’s breaking news capped an exciting weekend before free agency officially opens (Wednesday, March 13) when Russell Wilson announced his decision to join the Pittsburgh Steelers on a one-year deal. The Broncos will still have to pay Wilson’s $38 million salary in 2024, and the new contract can’t become official until Wednesday, but it looks like a match made in heaven between Wilson and head coach Mike Tomlin. That pairing gives Wilson the chance to be a leader on offense, and manage the game knowing he can rely on Tomlin’s stout defense. Free agency week hasn’t officially began, but it has.
