LSU QB Jayden Daniels Wins Heisman Trophy in Closest Race Since 2018
The 2023 Heisman Trophy was awarded to LSU QB Jayden Daniels Saturday night in New York. Daniels, who began his college career at Arizona State, became the second straight transfer quarterback to win the award. Heâs also the fifth transfer to win the Heisman in the last seven seasons. Daniels led the Tigers to a 9-3 record while packaging one of the most decorated stat lines in college football history â 4,946 yards and 50 total touchdowns. He also led the nation in yards per game (412.2), an average of 70+ yards more than the next player.

2. QB Michael Penix Jr. (WASH): 1,709 points
3. QB Bo Nix (ORE): 885 points
4. WR Marvin Harrison Jr. (OSU): 352 points
Daniels garnered 503 1st-place votes out of the 927 total. Penix Jr. received 292 1st-place votes. It was actually the closest the Heisman vote has been since 2018.
